Evie and her Baby Doll

For the first time in her 15.5 months we took Evie down the toy aisle at Target and let her pick something out. I knew I wanted to get her a little stroller like the one she loves at our neighbors house. I let her pick out the new baby doll to go with it.

She strolled that baby up and down the hall for quite awhile earlier today. And Jay and I shook our heads in disbelief that our BABY has grown up so much.

Taking a little break -

Excited to see baby still in the stroller -

Baby's blanket fell off so Evie picked it up and tucked Baby back in. So So Sweet.

Proud little Evie-

Walking girl

This is a really cute little video of Evie walking. She's taken off in the last week. It's a whole new world at our house!

Dinner time at our house

Last night Evie was having dinner while I cleaned up the kitchen. When I noticed her getting low on food I'd scoop more onto her tray. Then a little while later I look over and noticed where the food was going.

Here's what I found when I took the tray off!

Learning to Walk!

Jay's parents were here over Labor Day and got Miss Evie up on her feet and walking behind a push toy handed down from her cousin, Lane. She's a pro now!

It's only 7 seconds - about how long it takes to get across the room - but look at those little legs figuring things out!

Evie's 1st Cardboard Castle

Late in August Jay built Evie a "Cardboard Castle" from several large boxes. She thought it was dandy and I'm sure it's only the first of many such creations in our future. She loved playing in it almost as much as Jay enjoyed building it for her. It was complete with three doors, two windows and a skylight.

Here she is checking it out for the first time.

Jay is showing her the side entrance - you know - for when the main entrance isn't convenient.

Playing peek-a-boo through the window.

This is after Mommy did a little decorating with blankets.

Even Velcro thought it was fabulous!

Evie is Beating the Heat

We enjoyed some pool time in the back yard hippo pool last weekend. This summer in Austin has really been brutal. We're up to 67 days with over 100 degree temperatures. (Three days away from setting the all time record!) So there's no better place to play outside then in the hippo pool.

Where did the summer days go?

It's the eve of classes beginning again at UT! I'm home alone with Evie tonight - Jay is at work very late trying to get as many classrooms ready for tomorrow as possible.

When another summer passes us by I never can believe how quickly it went. And looking at our neglected blog I see the whole summer has passed without any updates. With hope that we still have some readers out there here are pictures from this summer with our little Evie Sue.

This is from mid-June. I love that big smile and her arm and leg rolls.

Evie tasted her first popsicle and thought it was mighty fine.

Her Daddy bought her her first bouncy ball - she thought it was for eating.

This picture is from the day she turned 8 months old.

So funny that a water bottle can get her more excited than that mountain of toys that's behind her!

This is from the day she turned 9 months old - she was a professional crawler by this point.

From July 28 - this was one of the first times she puller herself up to a standing position. She LOVES this little music table and her piano.

Little stinker blowing raspberries -

Fast forward to August 8 - still working out various tunes on her music table -

Mid-August we got her new car seat. I tried her out in it in the house before installing it. She thought her new seat was dandy.

Okay - I'm sure this is gross to anyone else but me. I just crack up at how messy she gets! This was from veggie lasagna, one of her favorites.

And her she is the day she turned 10 months old. She has started "cruising." (And for those who don't know what that is that means she uses furniture, etc., to help her take steps. I just found out last week that there was a word for that.) She's still getting the hang of it. I'm sure she'll be running around in no time though!
